Local Mission Opportunities:

Vigilant Hope

Wilmington, NC. Come partner with us as we prepare and serve breakfast and/or dinner for the homeless in downtown Wilmington. We will be preparing and serving breakfast on Saturdays and serving dinner on Thursdays. We will also be facilitating the mobile shower unit. Teams will be limited to 15 people. Location: Lake Forest Baptist Church, 1626 Lake Branch Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401. First Responders (Quarterly):

Wilmington, NC. Each quarter our church has the opportunity to participate in a cross-generational, family missions effort by visiting various local first responder stations. This day will be filled with ministering to the men and women who work hard and give of themselves daily for the betterment of our community. This opportunity is for covenant members of SHBC, however with no age requirement on volunteers, this is a wonderful opportunity to serve missionally with your entire family!

One Day Mini Venture (Quarterly):

Kinston, NC. Each quarter our church has the opportunity to partner with the Kennedy Home in Kinston, one of the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, and participate in a one day, cross-generational, family missions effort. This day will be filled with ministering to the children and staff at the home. This opportunity is for covenant members of SHBC, however with no age requirement on volunteers, this is a wonderful opportunity to serve missionally with your entire family!

Summer Missions Venture (SMV), June 24-28:

Kinston, NC. This summer our church has the opportunity to partner once again with the Kennedy Home in Kinston, one of the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, and participate in a cross-generational, family missions effort. This week will be filled with ministering to the children and staff at the home and helping with building and grounds maintenance. This opportunity is for covenant members of SHBC, however with no age requirement on volunteers, this is a wonderful opportunity to serve missionally with your entire family.


International Mission Opportunities:

Belize | March 1-9, 2019

Punta Gorda, Belize. The focus of this trip is teacher’s and student’s discipleship at Toledo Christian Academy. Our team will be engaged in leading devotions and storying with teachers and students, personal evangelism in the surrounding villages, and presenting the Jesus Film.


Ecuador | March 7-16, 2019

Catacocha, Ecuador. [FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY] The focus of this trip will be a camp programmed toward local students. The college ministry of SHBC will partner with Catacocha Hill Baptist Church.


Haiti | June 3-10, 2019

Leogane, Haiti. The focus of this trip is men’s and women’s discipleship in the local church and ministering to the children of In His Hands Orphan Home. Our team will be engaged in personal and small group evangelism in the surrounding communities, and presenting the Jesus Film.


Ecuador | August 1-9, 2019

Catacocha, Ecuador. The focus of this trip is men’s and women’s discipleship in the local church of Catacocha Hill Baptist Church. Our team will be engaged in personal and small group evangelism in the surrounding communities, and presenting the Jesus Film.


Ghana | October 3-14, 2019

Kumasi, Ghana. The focus of this trip is to support and encourage Suhudoo Baptist Church. Our team will engage in ministering to the sewing ladies, children, and teachers of Suhudoo Baptist Church, as well as small group evangelism in Kumasi and the surrounding areas, and presenting the Jesus Film.

Church membership and team training are required for all international trips. The cost for each trip is $1000 per missionary. The church will underwrite the balance of the cost of the trip. Training schedule and location TBA.


*For all international trips, a valid US passport is required for travel. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the return date of the trip you plan to take.

**For all international trips vaccinations are required. These can include: Hep A & B, typhoid, tetanus, and anti-malaria medication. You will also need a round of antibiotics. (CDC.gov will have updated vaccination requirements for each country.)

***Travel to Ghana requires a Visa to enter the country (the church will order this once we have everyone's passports) You also are required to have a Yellow Fever vaccination and the vaccinations listed above.

****Vaccinations can be purchased at a discount at the New Hanover County Health Department travel clinic or from an infectious disease physician. You do not have to be a resident of the county in which you request vaccinations. You are encouraged to schedule an appointment to receive these vaccinations as soon as possible as some of them must be ordered once your appointment has been scheduled.
